Jack sat up against the shed running his fingers through his hair. Dean Shultz saw him and walked up, “eh Jack, you seem sad, even for your normal dismal state.” Dean said offering him a hand, “I know a cure for that.” Jack took his hand and was helped up. Jack knew exactly what Dean Shultz miracle cure was, rum, and lots of it. Dean spent most of his time at the pub and never had any money on him, but somehow, he made it through.

Jack and Dean arrived at The Sprinter’s Hourse, a local pub where everyone was friends. Jack stopped outside the doors, “I don’t know Dean, I don’t drink.”

“Really, well there’s never a better time to start.” Dean pulled Jack in the pub. Elizabeth was on the side walk coming out of the grocery and saw this. She frowned, Jack hated pubs, and the drunks in pubs hated him. She decided it was best she get her brother before entering and went home quickly.

Dean pulled Jack up to the counter and the bartender stared, “hey anit you Jack Frost?”

“Yep, the one and only.” Dean said merrily, “two please.” The bartender went to get the drinks and Jack laid himself upon the counter. “Jack why you staring that way, the party is behind you!” Jack picked himself up and spun around. There was a tall woman getting on the stage in a small cut dress.
“This little gals gonna sing us all a right pretty song now.” Announced a gentleman in the back of the pub.

The girl blushed and took a deep breath and began to sing. “ ‘The merry green glen where I once lain, is blooming in the memory of you. That merry green glen where we once walked, is only meant for two.’ “ Some holars went up around and Jack turned back around, he hated that song. It was about a stupid green glen, green glens aren’t that special, he owned four of them.

The bartender set down two large, foaming glasses of rum. “You okay Jack?” The man asked. Jack just shook his head and passed the drink to Dean.

“Why won’t you drink?” Dean asked, “is rum too good for Jack Frost?”

“I don’t like it, it makes men into hogs, and worse.”

“So,” said a voice behind him, “you think I’m a hog for drinking?”

Jack Turned and saw local bully Maxwell. “No, Maxwell, but since you were born that way It makes you into filthy swine.”

Maxwell to a quickly swing of his rum and tossed the cup at Jack. Jack being undrunk was faster then the cup and easily avoided it. Maxwell grabbed Jack’s Arm and several men grabbed his feet. Dean would have stopped them, if he was sober and even knew what was going on around him.

Maxwell and the other men ran up the path to the mountain and made sure Jack was uncomfortable with it. The men threw Jack on the ground somewhere in the mountain and kicked him.

“Swine are we?” One said.

“Now who the swine?” Yelled another.
Jack smiled, “you are, you filthy pigs. Why don’t you go back and become more ignorant, you dirty bastards.”

Jack felt a swift kick in the head and passed out of consciousness. Maxwell snickered and picked up Jack’s limp body. He threw Jack as far as he could and left. Something cracked, Jack’s body fell threw a thin layer of ice into a frozen lake with no one around.

Robet stood over the crack and squeaked. “Shyna! Shyna!” Robet called. The wind blew harder and the figure of Shyna the Winter Witch formed out of snow. She made herself whole and opened her eyes.

“Yes, Robet?”

“Frost is in the Lake, Frost is in the lake!” Robet scurried around in a circle screaming.

Shyna slowly walked over to the crack and touched her finger to it, it froze over. Robet stopped walked over to the newly form ice and stomped his foot. “Yep, solid. What the hell did you do that for?”

“If he made it back to the surface we would have him alive.”

“Really?” Robet looked down at the ice and than looked back up at Shyna. “Do you know I want you to save him?”

“I can’t save him alive, I’ll have to bring him back as something else.” Shyna ran her hand over the ice and Jack’s body came out and followed her back to her cave home. Shyna set Jack’s body on a slab and have a few books come to her. She flipped through book after book but couldn’t find anything she liked.

“Robet, will you fetch me some water from that lake please?” Shyna went back looking through books and Robet jumped up on the slab and walked on top of Jack chest, “I’m kind of a squirrel, here.”

Shyna snapped her fingers and Robet turned into a small boy, “gee thanks, now I’m human, what could be better.” He complained and walked out of the room.

“Your skin shall be replaced with snow, your blood with cold water and you heart with ice, and you shall live again, Jack Frost.” Shyna looked at her great great grandson with somewhat of a fond feeling. She had not seen him since he was a babe when his great grandmother brought him up here to be blesses from all aliments.

Robet walked back in and set a bucket of water down, “can I be a squirrel again?”

“Later.” Shyna said picking up a quill and a piece of parchment. “I need you to take this to David. It’s telling him about Jack and what he should do.”

“What am I to you, your messenger squirrel?” Robet walked out of the Cave and closed the door.

Shyna shook her head, “pity, he make such a good human. I’d hate to turn him back.” Shyna picked up the water and set it down next to Jack’s head, “now this is going to hurt a bit.” She lifted her hand and summoned all the blood out of human, every last drop. She took the water and started slowly pouring it into him. As soon as the pale was empty she made it move into the blood streams and than Shyna felt something unexpected, disappointment.

“Usually I feel happy about this, hmm... maybe it’s because I haven’t frozen your body yet?” Shyna sat down and clapped her hands together, “creatures!” She yelled and three giant ice bears formed in front of her.

“Yes,” one said in a low hush tone.

Shyna sat forwards, “I need that body frozen quite quickly.” The bears got on their back legs and surrounded the slab. Carefully the picked up Jack and turned him on his side. Laying him down again the bears put their paws on the slab and it slowly started to form ice, first just a light frost, than the ice started to form together and covered jack in spikes. The bears all groaned and disappeared.

“Now, to wait, and see you defrost and wake up.” Shyna left the giant block of ice and went to her books to read up on the sickness.
