Cassandra picked out a small green vial with circles melted into it. She carefully dipped it into the cauldron full of bright golden liquid. She pulled it out and stuffed the small brown cork back into it. Smiling she held it up for Klaus to see. “The solution to my problem, Klaus. Marvelous isn’t it?”

“Quite well done, Mistress Cassandra.” The bird said proudly. His talons scratched the table as he walked across it and fluttered into the air. “Shall I run your mother back her page?” Cassandra nodded grabbing her cape.

“Be careful, I’ll be at the castle.” She said and began to rush out of the room. She slammed the door behind her and began running across her forests then summoned a chair of vines to carry her at twice the speed. “Come on,” she said upset, “move faster!”

Jack sat in his throne and watched as the girls went to work. The floor they grew was beautiful, perfect along every crease and smooth to the touch. They grew tables and chairs, make flower pots and put arrangements in them.

Finishing the girls collapsed onto the wood and smiled up at Jack, he returned the face and laughed. “You three over did yourselves. Why don’t you go take a nap?”

“That is the best idea we’ve heard all day.” Regina said and stood up. She helped the other two up and they walked over to Cassandra’s room and closed the door. Jack got up and began pacing the floors, he like the feel of them in the room.

The little deer reared his head up and looked at the king of winter, “Hey Jack, I mean, King Jack, I think I’m going to go take a nap with them too. See you later.” Tiffin got up off the floor yawning and went over to the door and pulled the knob down and going inside to kick the door shut.

Alone, Jack walked over to where Marylin lay and sat down on the edge of the bed; his hand traced carefully over her face. “My beautiful daughter…” He rested a hand on her shoulder and began recalling the voice of his child when she was younger. It whistled through his head and echoed bringing up painful memories. Accepting them Jack felt a single tear run down his face and flake out into a piece of snow.

The two front door burst open and Cassandra tripped and fell inside, she landed on her hands and pushed her body up enough to see Jack. “I did it, I found the way!”

“What way, to cure Marylin?” Jack asked excitedly thinking she had found heartwood.

Cassandra stood up and brushed her dress off then noticed the floors and hit them with her foot. “Wood? Did the girls do this?”

“I asked them too. I thought it would make them and you feel more at home.” Jack said and walked over and put his hands behind his back. He called some snow forth and turned it to ice in the shape of a bloomed rose. He held it out and handed it to her. “I thought maybe since it’s not just mine anymore the house should be more of a compromise.”

“Here, drink this.” Cassandra pulled out the small green bottle and switched it for the rose. She quickly fingered over the rose and looked up at Jack who was a bit confused. “Oh,” she quickly uncorked it. “Drink.”

Jack glared at it, “what is it?”

“Potion, now come on drink it, consider it a late wedding present.” Cassandra said and pointed to it with the rose head. Jack stared at her blankly. “Drink the damn vile.”

“Alright…” He said still somewhat confused. He raised the small bottle to his lips and began to ingest the potion. Jack’s taste bud lurched in his mouth and he had to slap a hand over his mouth to keep from throwing up. After a minute of nausea Jack just realized something, his tongue could taste. Then he felt something in the pit of his chest.

“My heart, it’s beating.” He said and looked up at her. “Did you make me human?”

“No, nothing can ever make you human; I just unfroze your body. You’re still the king of winter, control of all things cold, but now you’ll be able to feel the cold, and the heat.” Cassandra said and smiled, “your flesh is beginning to turn.”

“It is…?” Jack quickly ran into his room and looked at the empty hole in the wall. He waved his hand and the mirror grew back, he stopped and looked at his hand, it was tan and fleshy. He glared up into the mirror and saw the white hair fade and turn to yellow. His face’s pale completion faded to a warm rosy color.

Jack took off his shirt and watched as the flesh slowly changed. It was just like 400 years ago, he could feel. Cassandra slithered into the room and stopped behind him. “Well, do you like it?”

Jack spun around and hugged the woods lady. Taken a back and partially constricted Cassandra laughed, “you’re kind of hurting me, can you let go?”

“Thank you.” Jack whispered in her ear and loosened his grip, one hand around her back and one around her shoulders. “Thank you.”

“You know, Jack, there was a reason why I gave you flesh.” Cassandra said pulling away. She slowly slid her hands up her body and removed the cape dropping it on the floor.

“You’ve been away in a cabin just so we could…” Cassandra walked up and grabbed his hands and pulled him into her, their lips touching tenderly. Jack’s hands wrapped around her, pulling her closer to him. While he wasn’t paying attention, Cassandra reached down a grabbed his belt and ripped it off while taking a step back. “Hey.”

“Come on, you don’t want to play?” She said twirling his belt around. She used a vine to close the door and climbed up onto the bed. She knelt down and bit her bottom lip for a while giggling. “Come on…The sheets are freezing.”

“Is that good or bad?” Jack asked strolling over and crawling up on the bed. He kissed her gently on the shoulder and grabbed the button on the back of her dress.

The sheets were warm now; Cassandra was asleep next to Jack who was clutching her naked form for dear life. Both were still asleep and Klaus as he flew in to report was astonished and ecstatic on how well the potion had worked on Jack.

Klaus felt the letter in his claw and was forced to wake Cassandra up. He lowered himself down and tapped her with his free claw on the shoulder several times until she began to stir. He began whispering, “Mistress Cassandra. I have a urgent letter from your mother.”

“Hm…” She said and grabbed it from his claw. She rolled it open and read it quickly. “Oh my word!” She yelled.

“Huh?” Jack said waking up quickly. Cassandra ripped herself from him and got up and pulled her dress on. “What’s going on?”

“The centaurs are attacking the Dryads while their weak. The plan to do it tonight, I have to go protect them.” Cassandra said. She opened the door and stopped; turning around she walked over to Jack and kissed him passionately and quickly. “I’ll be back tomorrow. Bye.” She rushed from the room and grabbed her shoes.

“Damn…” Jack said and rolled back over on the bed. He put his hand on his forehead and sighed. Raising his hand he looked at the fluttering bird. “Hello Klaus.”

“Good evening Sire. I see the potion worked well. Are you happy with your new skin?”

Jack simply laughed and stepped out of bed. “Happy is only the half of it. I can’t wait until she gets back.”

If Klaus could blush, he would have then. The bird excused himself and let Jack get changed, hopping out into the main room he glance over quickly and saw Marylin picking an apple off the tree. “Oh, good evening Marylin.”

“Hi Klaus.” She replied. He stopped and realized what he was speaking to. “Jack! She’s up, she’s up! Come quickly sire!”
