(Another side...)

I was one of the best. Out of all the subjects, the dark lord had favored me, and I had risen high above to serve my lord. For years I have done his bidding, having to cause calamity in all regions of the earth. Gaining power and knowledge of the dark arts, surpassing mortal bounds, and even having the pleasure of meeting the dark lord himself. Yet, now I stand with all these accomplishments, with a blade aimed at my throat. By none other than a mere child.

A child...It’s ludicrous, pathetic, yet true. My only thoughts are, how? How did this youth even manage to find me, much less catch me off guard? Who is this kid?

“Who are you?” I questioned angrily. He had just popped out of the darkness, like an apparition and attacked with his sword before I could even comprehend the situation. He stopped within hairs of my neck, and the world seemed to pause. Such an accomplished swordsman!

“The name’s not important. But I have a few questions for you. Two months ago I investigated a case dealing with some highly ranked Satanists. Not worth my trouble I thought. But apparently, I was wrong.” The young man spoke with a mature nature, angry and intelligent.

It dawned onto to me who this child worked for. A team of specialists created out of the so called ‘need for protection against demons and the supernatural.’ They were called Team Ragnarok. They fought against what my people have tried to bring back. The dark lord and his minions. Demons belong on this planet, not the pathetic misery of humanity. After humanity is annihilated, my people and I shall be awarded for our devotion.

I remembered what my people did to those who worked against us. Horrible, unspeakable things. But we would do anything to complete our goal. By any means necessary. Acts deemed cruel and against humanity. But humanity deserves to be destroyed, and I shall aid in its destruction.

I cracked a grin, “Ah, so you’re one of them. That makes sense.”

“Damn right. Doesn’t matter anyway. Since you know I was from Team Ragnarok, I think you understand I have a vendetta.”

All too well, I thought. To tell the truth, I was very afraid of dying. The tip of the sword danced along the surface of my skin. There was no way of getting out of this predicament as of now, but I was sure some of my people were close by.

“Doesn’t matter to me kid, I’ve got no where else to be right now. The demons will find you soon, and if they don’t, my master shall.” I sat there, stoic, yet stupefied at this entire ordeal.

“Tell me what I want to know.” The youth demanded.

I pretended to sigh. I was getting very impatient with this game. I had to distract him, as it was the only way to get an advantage. Then, I could get all the trump cards I needed. I figured, as talented and gifted as this child was, he was still a child. And no child can defeat me.

“And what would that be, kid? I’ll be happy to tell you, because either way I die. But first, tell me, what’s your name?”

“It’s Jack...” He spoke.

I smiled as he took the bait. Just keep distracting him...

“And I want to know what happened two months ago. What happened to me and my team?”

You? I don’t seem to recall who you are, Jack. But from the looks of it, you may have had some troubles along the way...These are the key to getting out of here. I’ve got to exploit this weakness.

“Hmph. That’s a good question, boy. I wouldn’t know what happened to those poor kids that had joined you on the mission. I’m not the guy to ask. But I bet that whatever happened to them couldn’t possibly be as bad as the things that probably have been runnin’ through your head.” I spoke with false pity.

“Don’t try to sympathize, you sick bastard. I know what you’re into. Don’t think you can run that bullshit by me. I want to know what the hell happened!” He yelled. I hoped he would be distracted by that, but he wasn’t. I tried averting my eyes into the darkness, as if feigning someone from behind. But his attention did not falter for a second. There was no tricking this boy.

“Fine, kid. So we killed them. Two of em’. Tried to torture information out the little pricks. But we got nothin’. So we ended up sacrificing them slowly. Cuttin‘ up their bodies and watching their blood drip. Listening to their lovely screams for hours.” I spoke with my lips just dripping with satisfaction.

He reacted frantically and pushed the sword deeper into my neck. Yet, I had gone to far to back away. This had made me even more anxious. I wanted to keep pushing this kid, further into the darkness, until his ears bled with insanity.

“Struck a nerve, did I? I thought you were trained to kill all emotions.”

“Not all training works. I think you’ve just given me an idea for what I’m going to do with you. Now tell me.” Jack now had a disturbingly calm voice. This isn’t an ordinary kid, I thought. He is rather young. A high school kid, I see. Jet black hair and light brown skin. Such eyes...With all the scenes I have witnessed, I have never seen such daunting eyes. A black pupil with an eerie blue hue. The glint in his eye seemed to glow...

“What is it?” I asked. I planned on lying through my teeth, but I was very interested in this child’s story.

“I interrupted a demonic ritual that day. I fell onto the pedestal and some of the candles fell over. Everything was on fire, so I jumped onto the floor and out of the way. But then, the entire floor grew black. A red pentagram appeared on the floor and disappeared. These weird ass symbols showed up outta nowhere and then blasted up into the ceiling. The ground began to shake, and this huge emblem appeared onto the floor. My arm started burning. I pulled up my sleeve and saw the same marking on my arm. It appeared suddenly and hasn’t gone away. Then, my arm went spastic. I couldn’t control it and it went crazy and I tried to hold it back. I felt so much anger suddenly and I went berserk.”

“Do you remember what you did?” I was now fully alert and totally interested in his story.

“No, I don’t. I just remember my back started hurting and all these markings appeared on my skin. My entire body felt like it was ablaze. It was overflowing with power...” Jack spoke.

What happened to this boy? I’ve never heard anything like that...This child is crazy, there’s no way...

“Kid, that symbol’s been there for centuries. It doesn’t do anything.” I spoke firmly and surprisingly, truthfully.

“Doesn’t do anything? How can you say that? How do you explain this stuff on my arm? And the other markings on my body? How else? What did that thing put inside me?” He screamed angrily, not taking his luminescent eyes off mine.

It couldn’t have done anything...It’s not supposed to. Why...? This kid wouldn’t have risked his damn life to tell me a bullshit story.

“It didn’t put anything inside you, boy. It only awoke what was already there.”

As I spoke, a dark figure came dashing into the room.
