Oh, I knew better than to kill Nicoli. He was what most non-human vampire hunters called a second. He was one of Kali’s beloved pet fledglings. Kali was one of five very first vampires, who had been created as a scientific experiment back in the times of Atlantis and Camelot. She was the only original living today. She had killed the other four - sucked them dry to gain their power, but that was just one of many reasons. Kali was a frivolous character, one who could not live without her toys, most of which consisted of humans she tortured to do her bidding. Kali had a taste for souls just as tortured as she was. The other four, Morohtar, Devi, Nox and Eris, were not nearly as trifling and grew tired of Kali’s antics. When they tried to have her killed she grew more wrathful, for she was already petulant that she had to share such power and grace with someone she did not control and in a jealous rage stole into each of their rooms and drained each of them, hoping to gain their power through their blood. Much to the misfortune of man, she succeeded. She was now nearly invincible, if not completely. Sunlight didn’t harm her like it did most others and the magic of witches didn’t effect her. No one else had ever gotten close enough to her to see if she was truly immortal and those she let close enough to find out were little more than obedient playthings to her.
Most humans she trained she didn’t turn fully, just merely bound themselves to her with a little of her own blood-letting . This allowed them ageless youth, but nothing else. As far as most could be concerned, they were humans that didn’t age, but some she did allow what she called the dark gift. Nicoli and Alexi among them. She adored Nicoli above most others simply she didn’t not have to break him of his will for his obedience. He had fallen in love with her not long after he had met her, deceived by her beauty and coquettish outward existence. After she turned him, she allowed him to see the dark soulless vampire side she kept locked away during daylight hours and he had loved her more for it. Naturally a moral person, he turned into just the opposite when he had been given the curse of being a vampire. He grew utterly obedient and at tentative to her. He had even almost killed Alexi, his very brother In order to please her. Instead she had grow angry with him. Alexi had been her work in progress at the time, but had refused to bend himself to her will. Not used to such a stubborn adversary she had complained to Nicoli, who had then tried to kill him, figuring she would be pleased that his brother was no longing living to torment her. She had thrown Nicoli away from herself then, unreservedly furious with him. She told him never to return and she then changed Alexi into yet another of her abominations, unable to resist her curiosity about him. She had only called Nicoli back just recently, to change me into one of them when she had grown jealous of Alexi’s adoration of me.
