I rose from my seat on the old swing, hearing it creak and groan in a language all its own. This is the place I come to when I need to be away from the world, when the hustle and bustle of everyday life become too much for me. I come up here, to this hilltop, this big old tree, I sit on the swing that has been here forever, and I look at the view. It is spectacular; blue-grey mountains in the far distance, green wooded hills a little closer, a few slightly wonky squares that are probably corn or vegetable fields, and big fluffy clouds over it all. Up here the rush and bother of work, school, homework, boyfriend... it all shrinks to a mere pebble that is slowly ground to dust in the great river that is the slow, steady progression of time. As the swing creaked its goodbye, I started down the hill, recharged, and ready to face another week.
