-Why does the sun set in the evening Mommy?

-Because it's been shining all day sweetheart, and it's tired, and wants to sleep. Like when you've been playing at the beach, and you sleep all the way home in the car.

-I don't sleep in the car Mommy. I never sleep in the car.

-Of course not sweetie. But when you go to bed and you snuggle up with your bear and sleep, then you are like the sun when it sets.

-Oh... maybe the sun wants a bear too!

-Maybe the sun's bear lives just down there, below the horizon, and that's why it sets, because it's going to see its bear.

-Momma, why did the boy call me stupid today Momma? I didn't even make a face at him!

-I think the boy was feeling sad darling, and he wanted to make someone feel worse so that he could feel better.

-But that doesn't make any sense Momma!

-I know love, but boys are sometimes like that. Sometimes even girls are like that. Did you make a face at him after he called you stupid?

-Yes! It was a awful face Momma. The teacher said it was! He laughed when I made it.

-An awful face dear. Can I see it?
*
My goodness! That is awful!

-Will my face freeze like this if I do it long enough? The teacher said it would!

-Well, you never know what could happen...

-Mama, why don't I have a father? The teacher said that a family was a mother and a father and children, but I don't have a father, I have you and Momma.

-The teacher was wrong dearest. A family is a group of people who love each other. Sometimes there isn't a father, and sometimes there isn't a mother, but it's still a family.

-But why did the teacher say that if it was wrong?

-The teacher was probably thinking of her own family sweet one, and said that because she was thinking of her own mother and father.

-Oh. Did I have a father ever?

-There was a nice man who gave me a little bit of himself, and I combined that with a little bit of myself, and me and your Momma made you together.

-Where is he then Mama?

-He lives with his daughter and her other father in the city darling.

-Can I meet him? Maybe me and his daughter could be friends!

-Maybe in a little while dear, when you're a little older, we'll take you to visit them.

-Okay Mama.
