Chapter 2

The wind stopped in seconds but she did not feel him behind her. As Irene opened her eyes she found herself in a strange room. It looked like an immense tower of high stone walls and gargoyles adorning the columns capitals. There were big floor candelabras and others on the walls. On the right there were two ancient chairs without back and made of maroon leather. In front of Irene there was something that looked like a stone altar that rised after a step. No door to go out. She sat down in a chair and tried to see the ceiling of that tower, but her look disappeared into the darkness. Irene leaned on the wall and after hearing a hiss, the chair got life and caught her arms. She emitted a suffocated shout and tried to liberate herself. She asked for help, her voice resounding in the tower. She did not know if wait an answer but she received it.

- What have you done?

She looked around her, exhausted of trying to liberate herself as a tear rolled down her cheek. She did not know if it was because of her eyes but a fragrant dense smoke started to accumulate in front of her and from it appeared that man of dark and intense appearance. He was kneeling down with his arms on his leg, staring at Irene.

- I was afraid I had to do it -her face changed drastically, her eyes wide opened-. Why...? Why are you here? Why are you with ME? Why do you experience those feelings? –She was speechless. Again that smile...- Tell me what your heart says.

She looked at him, trying to guess what he expected doing that. A voice in her mind repeated his words and Irene closed her eyes. Finally she answered.

- Because you need something from me...

Now a perennial smile settled on his livid face. He stood up and started to walk from one side to other. Irene looked at the floor, fatigued, lost. She did not know where she was, remember what he asked her turned out wearing and she did not understand her emotions. Why did she feel attracted by him?

- My name is Cyrus, and I’ve been looking for you for many lives.

He walked towards her and stared at Irene. She is stunned, under the same spell he used to persuade her to go with him.

- You were mine once, but with other shape and name. In essence you have not changed. Your soul still radiates power and your body beauty... After so much time you are finally before me. What I have been expecting for millenniums happens at last and all planning looks minimized for the greatness of our meeting. Tell me, Silvana, what do you think I need you for?

His cold eyes were still reading her interior. Irene’s eyes were bright with tears and each moment she felt closer to him, the memories coming back to her mind in stampede, and her confusion was turning terrifyingly immense. He had pronounced a name. A name that she had never listened but with which she felt identified.

- I am... I...

She closed her eyes, a solitary tear, product of the remember of a painful past, crossed her cheek and felt in his hand, who had put it under Irene’s chin to do not let it escape, as if it was about a treasure. Her eyes opened wide. The memories were ordered abruptly and everything took sense.

- I'm your lover...
- Silvana... -he caressed her face but she moved away and looked straight to his eyes, trying to fight against that magic that they seemed to contain.
- And I remember your betrayal... Your deceptions, necromancer.

He started to laugh out loud, the flames of the candles trembling. Suddenly, the chair released her and she stoop up with fire burning inside her. He turned to Irene with his sword again in his hand. Its end was pointing to her neck.

- You know you won't manage to go out of here. And you know I will use all my power to keep you here.
- Again? Again trying to deceive me? You kept me here once, you shut me in this tower and I couldn't do anything... And everyone died. Do you think I will stay here motionless? No. Not again. I will never trust you for a second time.

Cyrus sheathed the sword and approached the recently awakened Silvana. His hands caressed her face and her hair and the flames that started to crackle inside her all at once, disappeared the same way. Irene closed her eyes, enjoying the contact of someone who, did not matter how much she denied it, she loved. She opened slowly her mouth trying to find on the air the strength to overcome. He hugged her and whispered in her ear.

- Silvana, my love... My sweet companion...

Silvana’s pulse was accelerated, driving her to insanity. Those feelings started to wake up something in her memory; the fire that burns when you are with the person you desire. Her heart beat frantic with his skin near hers, and slowly he caressed with his lips her cheek and arrived in front of her mouth. He looks at Silvana, standing there with her eyes closed, her lips fairly separated and he sighed, as someone who obtains what he wants after looking for it for a long time. He leaned towards her and kissed her lips, and its warm was not comparable to anything known. Silvana was in an ecstasy; her hands sliding to his back, pushing herself closer to him. He was caressing her neck and her lower back with his soft hands.

She moved away from him slowly, her look blurred but she could see his charming eyes clearly. Silvana whispered.

- I love you... I hate myself, but I love you...
- Don't, Silvana. Come back with me. Forget everything.
- Forget everything? -She retreated from him furious. -I lost my parents, my sister, my brother, my house, my friends...! Forget everything! You are mad.
- Me mad? After hundreds of years you are still anchored in the past! They won't come back. I saved you!

He started to walk towards Silvana but she walked backwards only to find the altar avoiding her to move.

- You should have let me surrender. Give them what they wanted. We could have look for a solution after that. But you let them kill them all! My people, all... All without a drop of blood inside.

Silvana stared at him, remembering how the vampires threatened her to give them the elixir she created for him, for Adam, the first step to achieve her happiness with him.

- But he disappeared. He left you -said Cyrus reading her mind.
- He didn't. He would have never done that. I'm sure he had a reason.
- He joined the enemy. He preferred his kind than your love.

She repeated to herself that he did not leave her, her mind filled with memories about him, about both; his sort wavy hair of a bright dark brown, his hazel eyes, his skin, white and smooth.

- You don't understand anything, you...
- Shut up! -She shouted-. Go away, Cyrus. Leave me alone!

His face reflected anger; his eyes were two lines that shone in the darkness of his sockets. He disappeared in a dense fog, as he appeared, and Silvana found herself there, in the tower, looking at the cold walls.
