I strive forward. My eyes are focused on a faraway spot, even though I can't see a thing, it doesn't matter, as long as the spot is ahead. I have a goal, it is there - ahead -, yet I don't know how far it is... I have blindly gone for almost a year, striving and giving up, blind as to where I'm going, in this senseless desert of darkness, looking for something I don't even know about, but it is there. Ahead.
However, I have a pair of eyes that see. They look the other way, back from where I came, where it wasn't so dark- the fiery clouds and golden birds of paradise. I used to be happy there, seeing the world in sharp colors, singing with birds, looking into the sparkling water to see... You. The sky got dark, a phoenix cry echoed through the mountains and you told me to leave. You threw me out of the gates and they closed behind me. Beautiful, fine gates, but enormously strong. No matter where I look, I see them closing again and again. No matter how far I go, they are right behind me, I seem not to move, though I have already been gone for a year. And I see your face. Both angel and demon, in charge of your own paradise. You make perfectly sure the gate is locked and turn away, I am locked out of your world, and you never told me why.
I strive forward, blindly and endlessly in the black desert, hoping for another paradise.
But alas! The eyes in my back have no lids.
