Jenny sighed as another billboard boasting a cheap road show attraction whizzed by the passengers’ window. However, true to her nature, her Mother made the right turn, gabbing at how this one was sure to be a fun one. They pulled up to the gravel driveway, where a few other cars, mostly old battered junkies, were parked. They got out of the car, stepping into the beat up building, that smelled like fish tacos. They sat down on the plastic chairs offered them by a fat unshaven man, who was doting over them like royalty. The other guests arrived not long after, most of them looking like regular hillbillies. When the tattered red curtains pulled back, Jenny’s mother gasped. A man in a well-tailored suit was bowing and introducing himself as “ Francis the dog man, master magician.” He looked the strangest thing, really. Hands that were more like paws, hairy and with long nails. His nose was long, and flat at the end, like a wolf’s. He had YELLOW eyes, and Jenny was sure that he had fangs, because he smiled directly at her, and she swore she saw incisors the size of her pinky. He had a strange accent, like he wasn’t from anywhere near here.
“Now you’re in for a real treat. Magic, ladies and gentlemen, magic like you’ve never seen before. I need a volunteer, anyone, anyone that is . . . willing to take the risk of never returning to this world.” He said, grinning.
Jenny immediately raised her hand, wanting nothing more than to never be able to return to this world. Her mother chuckled, certain the wolf man was joking. Francis called her down, smiling. He took her by the hand, and whispered, “Ready for the time of your life?”
She nodded. He took out a small bottle. It looked like some sort of perfume. He took it and sprayed it on her, but covering it with his cloak so the audience couldn’t see.
When he whipped his cloak back, Jenny was gone. She had gone to his home planet, where everyone looked like him, the wolf-like species.
On the other side of the portal, Jenny was crying, begging for some way to be sent back. The other wolf man looked at her, almost sadly. “Sorry my dear, you chose this the second you raised that skinny naked paw. But don’t worry, you’ll make a delightful roadside attraction.”
