End of the Line



I have the paper in hand.
I’ve tried every number that I can.
Pushed on the buttons till my fingers were numb.
Sat and sat and twiddled my thumbs.
Listened to the rings in my ear.
Heard the pick up, ready to cheer.
A man’s voice, soft and low.
Giving me information to know.
Every word like pain upon my skin, inflicted.
Oh dear god…you’ve been disconnected.
