"It takes a lot more than a few roses to thaw my frozen heart, darling." The flowers fell to the floor where they were crumpled into pieces by her fanciful boot. They really were lovely roses too, deep purple and velvety smooth. He watched from the doorway, the blood rising in his face. She always did this, no matter how hard he tried. Nothing would make her love him. It was said that she had no feelings, that her soul itself was in an eternal winter. Her white skin and ice blue eyes certainly proved as much. He left without a word, not wanting to embarrass himself further. He lived his life in constant embarrassment, always groveling at the cold woman's feet. A self-satisfied purr escaped from her musical throat when she was alone. That boy was cause for endless amusement. The purple lipstick left a mark on the wine glass when she sipped from it, a kiss that he would never get.
