    The alien disembarked from its space vehicle, encased in a protective suit that would give it immunity from this world’s harsh atmosphere. It gave up a brief prayer of thanks to the Creator for having granted it safe passage through the stars to this far-off planet, and used that moment of reflection to consider its next move. Its ship was safely hidden in the tall vegetation in which it had landed, and it now moved onto a bumpy surface exposed to the bright sunlight. Suddenly a shadow fell over it, and the alien looked up to see a huge appendage come down from above, and realized too late that it was a boot-shod lower limb of the dominant life form, and it was about to squish it like a bug.
