A month had passed since the chief had come and the leaves were turning their beautiful shades of orange, yellow and brown. And the ground was covering in the painted leaves too. The colors seemed to shadow what was the originally green area. It was beautiful, but was getting a bit cooler. It felt good compared to the hot summer days. It was cool to still be with Derek and friends with Kilala.
Sheilla was fat then. She was bulging with little one s that would arrive soon. Derek said to give it no more that a few more days and they would arrive. I couldn’t wait for that. I loved dogs, and I especially loved puppies! It was just a matter of wait now.
The cabin was in good shape, and cleaned up every day and we had managed to make new furniture and Derek went off earlier that week for his monthly trip home and was able to bring more food from the city. He even brought some junk food that I missed and loved.
Well, that catches you up for the month past. Kilala was over that day and was helping with the chores. She helped at my home, and I went over to their village and helped too. Her and I hung out together all that day. I would see that Derek was jealous sometimes that day. But I’d give him a hug and kiss him and then he would cheer up and it wouldn’t seem so bad for him. He must have just not been use to me having other friends or something like that.
We were still waiting on the arrival of our new guests, the pups. They had completely forgotten about my last incident with the demons and ritual, but I definitely hadn’t. It all seemed like a dream, a bad dream.
One night at like three A.M. Derek shook me awake for some reason. He looked at me when I rolled over and said in a whispered tone, “it’s time.” “You’re not pregnant!” I said in a sleepy drunken voice, “now listen to me you, you’re a guy, and guys can’t get pregnant. You should know that. And I know I’m not pregnant either, and I don’t want to be. So keep your hands to yourself and out of my pants Mr.!” I finished. I sounded like an idiot, but I was so tired I wasn’t even sure what I was saying. He head me say it and said, “I’m Kilala, I’m pregnant!” “Shut up smart ass!” I said to him. Jerk.
“The puppies are almost here Amber! Get up!” he said. “All right! Jeez! I’m getting up already!” I said, and then rose like a zombie off the floor. I lit quite a few candles since it was pitch black outside. It gave us enough light for what we were doing.
Sheilla was whining over in the corner. She was lying on her bed of a pile of clothes. We could tell they were coming at any moment by the way she was acting. I didn’t really want to watch, but I did. Other wise I would have stayed asleep if Derek wouldn’t have needed my help. It was kind of gross how it happened to me.
It was a long process of getting all the puppies. It must have been hell for Sheilla. I felt kind of bad for her. It all in all took about a half an hour to do. And after that, all of the pups had been delivered. A head count showed seven. Derek cleaned them up and I made a “nest” for them. So that way they could have a bed near their mom.
They were so cute, and their eyes hadn’t opened yet. I watched them as they squirmed around a bit, then they found their ways to the nest and lay down for the night. I wanted to do the exact same. My eyes were barely opened as well. I kissed Derek good night, blew out all the candles, then slipped into my bed and drifted off.
I was woken up five hours later by hungry little barks. I had no choice but to get up. I rolled over and watched they made their way over to their mother for milk. Then I realized that I was hungry too. So I went and made an omelet out of some of the eggs Kilala had given me.
I played a little with the puppies after they had eaten. They had just opened their eyes about an hour ago and they were curious about everything. It was cool to see all the miracles of life. They were so cute! They had a little bit of fur and huge eyes. They weren’t all timber wolf colored though. By the morning unfortunately only five actually survived. But they were all in really good shape and it seemed the two would be all we would lose after that.
Two of them were timber wolves, but one other was a black wolf, another was a white wolf, and the last one was a red wolf! I didn’t understand how they got four different wolf breeds out of parents that are all one. Derek told me it was a genetic thing and was actually pretty common to get ones that aren’t the same as the parents.
I relaxed, hung out and spent most the day with Derek really. It was a slow day. Kilala didn’t come over and it was ok. I was sure she had something else she had to do. Derek was happy to have the time with me anyways. I think he was just a little sick of her after all the time her and I spent together. There weren’t even that many chores to do either some how. Oh-well. I found things to do. The day wasn’t that long.
Soon that would all be over and maybe things would pick up on a faster pace the next day. That was the day I noticed how boring it was when you had nothing to do. But I had to admit that the puppies were so awesome! Sheilla and Midnight had their own pack, although they were still really young. They would grow up and then it would be happy for them not to be all alone. I just love puppies for some reason!
