[Spirit]: 726.Animungus Lupus: Chapter Five

 When I awaken I see Craig lying in a pile over near the cave entrance. He is dead. Oh no not again. I look around for the bear. I see it, it’s by a rock in the back of the cave. I leap at it and tear its throat up. I rip its stomach open. I jump on and turn into my Anubis form. I run towards the bear and claw out its eyes. I… “Spirit wake up! Spirit your having another nightmare. Spirit.” I hear Craig’s voice I run towards it. “Spirit wake up!”   Wham!!!! I awaken instantly. My head throbs. I look at Craig, he is standing over me. “Sorry about hitting you but you were having another nightmare. I saw you get up and run into the cave wall in your Anubis form. I figured I should awake you before you hurt yourself. So I um hit you on the head. Sorry.” Craig truly was sorry. His eyes showed sorrow. “It’s ok I thank you for awaking me. That was some nightmare. It was like the bear was real.” “Bear? You were dreaming about a bear?” “Yeah the one that attacked us. I saw you dead in a corner. I then saw the bear so I attacked it and tore it limb from limb.” I say. “You were going to kill a bear because you saw me dead in a corner?” Craig looked at me with confused eyes. “Why?” “I um I uh because you make me feel calm and safe. You make me feel secure and I don’t feel like that around many of our kind. So when I saw you like that I lost it. I guess I am trying to say that I don’t want you to go I care about you and I don’t want you to go ever.” I say and shy away. “Oh. I see. Well same here.” Craig says. “Well.” I say, “We should get going if I want to show you that spot of mine.”    We headed west away from the direction we should be going, east. That’s where the pack is but I wanted to share my special spot with Craig.   We arrived and Craig’s jaw dropped instantly. There in front of us was a waterfall so beautiful in the moonlight. The little pond glowed and shimmered with the moon’s light, the flowers around the falls were just starting to bloom and they smelled wonderful. The trees were thick enough that you could bathe naked and no one would see you. It would be hard for humans to get through the thicket of trees but for animals it’s really easy. I see Craig turn to his half form and I run to the water and dive in. I hold my breath but turn into my Anubis form. I waited silently for Craig to come and jump in.  I see him approach cautiously. I can’t hold my breath any longer so I leap at him and come out on top of him. He wrestles me off and gets me in an arm lock. I wiggle free and turn to full wolf. I leap back into the water and swim under the falls to hide from Craig. He turns to full wolf and leaps in and swims near the falls. He stops inches from the falls and pricks his ears up. He is listening for me. I leap but he hears me and dodges. Craig then leaps on me as I fall into the water. He grabs my mane with his mouth and brings it back up so I can breathe. I try to turn on him and nip at him but he has to firm of a grip on my mane and won’t let go. He has learned to listen well. I finally give up and go limp. He lets go and I howl at the moon, he joins me and the two of us sing in chorus. I then bark at him and tell him that I will be back I am going to get us dinner. He starts to join me but I tell him to stay.   As I make my way to the trees I sense something dangerous coming I turn to him and warn him but when I turn back I am hit in the side hard and the next thing I know I am flying through the air. I hit a tree hard and go limb everything goes black.I awaken to rustling to my left and hear a yelp. I look over and see Craig flying through the air, he hits a tree but not as hard as I did. My hair grows long and white, my paws expand into hands with sharp pointed claws, my feet paws grow out and the claws grow two inches longer, my ears grow taller and my eyes go black, my muzzle grows out a little longer and my muscles expand all the way. I run full speed at the bear and hit it full force in the stomach. That’s when I realize that this is the same bear that attacked us the first time. “You won’t get away a second time. I will tear you to pieces.” I growl. I dig my claws in its stomach and twist. The bear lets out a roar and swings at me with one of its massive paws. I take my claws out and dodge. I bite into its neck and hoist myself up so I have my claws digging into its back and my feet’s claws digging into its stomach. I start to run my feet on its stomach tearing it up. I bite down harder on its neck drawing lots of blood. Craig gets up and leaps up on its back and digs his muzzle in the bear’s neck. The bear roars in pain and manages to get one of its massive paws between itself and me and flings me through the air. This time I hit a rock and I just see the bear go down and Craig approaches me as my world goes black.   I awaken to the smell of flesh cooking. The first thing I see is the fire, and then I see Craig. He is cooking the bear’s hind muscle on the fire. He sees me awake and is instantly by my side. It is good to see Craig in human form again. I check to see what form I am in and notice I am still in my Anubis form. I change to human but leave just enough fur on my girlish parts. “How do you feel?” Craig asks. “I feel fine right now, but of course I haven’t moved yet so I don’t really know.” I say in reply. I try to get up but feel a sharp pain in my side.   That’s when I finally notice the long slash mark that goes from my back all the way to my right side and to half of my stomach. The bear had left its mark. “Oh please lay down, you need rest.” Craig says with concern in his voice and sadness in his eyes. “Oh don’t fret. It is only a flesh wound. I will live. Besides I am tough and can handle it.” I reply with a grin. “Well I see your sense of humor isn’t damaged that’s good.” Craig says with a laugh. “Oh? And when did you become a doctor?” I say with a smile. “Actually I took a class on it so I know a little bit about being a doctor.” He said with a grin. “Ok smart ass I see how you are.” I scoff. “Will you please hand me a piece of that cooked meat it smells delicious.”  Craig hands me pretty much the whole hindquarter. I dig into it ferociously and finish it within five minutes. I never knew I could eat like that and am instantly embarrassed. Craig looks at me in disbelief and I look at him with a wide grin, some of the juice escaping my mouth. “What? You’ve never seen a female eat like a man?” “Not you but I have seen many women eat like a man. I just thought you were one of those types who hates women like that.” He says with shock. “Well as you can see I am at times but in reality I really don’t care.” I say with a sneer. “Now you need not to worry about my flesh wound. It will be almost fully healed in the morning. Or should I say in the mid afternoon. We will sleep in the cave behind the falls all day and night today and leave for the pack in the morning.   The rest of the day and night went by slowly. Occasionally I would get up and use the restroom or go get us food otherwise I slept through it all. Craig now and again would hover over me checking my “Flesh wound” and making sure I was comfortable. I would complain and tell him to lie down and sleep. But like I promised it was fully healed by the afternoon and was just another battle scar. Finally night had come and by that time Craig was bushed. He curled up into a ball as best he could as a human and tried to sleep. I changed to wolf form and joined him. He finally changed and slept. We slept most of the night until the nightmares started up again. This time it was the pack that had hurt Craig and I couldn’t do anything about it. I just had to sit there and watch them abuse him. I couldn’t hurt my own family could I? Then there was Razz. He was the one who killed Craig. The jealously in his eyes told me that he was expecting me to choose him for a mate. I didn’t know it at first but the goddess had sent me to find Craig not only to bring him back to the pack but also because he was my chosen mate.
  I awoke instantly after that. What was the goddess trying to tell me? That I would be challenged for my title or that Razz would kill Craig in the end? I didn’t want to know or find out. Dawn was approaching and I wished to get back to the pack as soon as possible. Without waking Craig I went out to get food. When I returned Craig was up and pacing. When he saw me he hurried over to me to ask what I was doing. I explained that I had gone out to find breakfast and was successful. I lifted my tail and showed him all the fish on the vine I used to carry them back. I had twelve fish total. Six for each of us. We ate hastily and set out for the pack, heading east where the den was. I didn’t know what awaited us.
