When the notorious "Skipper" a serial killer with a profile as unusual as his name appears once again in Boston it is up to Laila and her trusted partner Light Raito to bring him down. Can the tag team nicknamed team Night-Light bring the Skipper down or will he kill and skip off the map once again? Read and Review as Laila attampts to not only chance a killer but raise her three children who are more like their more than she'd like.

I knew my daughters, Aria and Arella, then thirteen years old were getting older when one night at dinner my youngest, a little boy age six, Nicholas reached over and stole a french fry off of Aria's plate and instead of become furious at her brother she merely pushed her plate so he could reach it easier. I admit, I was slightly saddened to see how fast my children, especially my twin girls were growing up, but at the same time I felt relieved that I no longer had to naw my fingernails off each time I left for work.
My lifelong best friend, J-lynn Turner often teased me about marrying Teddy. He had been my secret high school crush until our senior year, when I finally told him how I felt about him. I had expected to be rejected, never did I expect to, seventeen years later be married to him, and the mother of three children! He sat across from me and silently read through his office file, humerously unaware that Nicholas had just spilt his iced tea all over his father's dinner.

"Ted, how's your pizza?" I asked him, Arella and Aria stiffled their giggling.

Teddy looked up at me and looked utterly confused. "I thought we were eating hamburgers?" He looked down and silently cursed. He broke into laughter and tickled Nicholas under his sticky chin. "You rotten trickerster Nicko! Can't you put anything you eat in your mouth instead of my clean table? Or my dinner?"

Nicholas burped and we all laughed. I enjoyed these kinds of crisises, the ones you can fix with a trusty paper towel or wet sponge. Not like at work, where its usually settled with the sound of my SIG being fired at an escaping criminal. Yes, it was much better, in my opinion to clean Nicholas' messes than that of a cold blooded killer any day.

My name is Laila M. Night, Special Agent of the FBI. My job often requires me to travel, so I was overjoyed to be able to spend a few days back in Boston with my family. I was grateful too, that our mess did not disturb the usual hussle and bussle of the diner we were eating in. All American Diner, were Teddy had gotten his first job, and I had celebrated my acceptance into the FBI Training Academy with him. The staff was still the same, and Teddy and I knew that when we were old and gray the same group of unusual characters would still be here as well.

Suddenly my cellphone rang in my jacket pocket, the volume was turned down but I could clearly hear Arella had once again altered my ringtone from the James Bond theme song to an odd techno mix. I raised an eyebrow at her as I flipped open the phone and spoke into the mouthpiece. "Night here."

"Serious as always Laila." A familiar voice brought a smile to my face.

"J-lynn Turner, what a pleasant interuption." I joked. Teddy waved from his side of the table. "Teddy says 'Hello' as well."

"Teddy's there? Oh Jesus did I interupt you two? I mean it DID take you a while to answer me and.."

"Still as much as a teenager as the last time I talked to you J-lynn." I cut her off. "What can I do for you?"

"Quick, what's the date and the time." She said.

"You called me just to ask me what the..."

"Laila! Come on, trust me!" J-lynn said.

I sighed, she probably did have a legitimate reason. "It's Saturday, and it's a few minutes past nine o'clock."

I heard J-lynn try not to laugh, as she moved the reciever closer to what sounded like a television speaker. It took only a few seconds for me to recognize what she wanted me to hear. When her voice came back I laughed and said, "Are you kidding me? Naruto is on right now? It's been fifteen years since last I heard that theme song."

"And you havn't forgotten it after almost two decades? We're sad people my friend." J-lynn told me before she hung up the phone. Typical her, gets to the point and hangs right up again.

"What did Auntie want Mom?" Aria asked.

"It's an inside joke." I told her.

"Mom!" Arella rolled her eyes. "Don't say that, you're way to..OLD!"

I rolled my eyes right back at her. "I'm only thirty three Miss Arella Erika Night! And if I'm so old, how can I still kick your butt at field hockey?" I asked her.

"Because, you're an FBI Agent." Teddy leaned across the table and planted a sweet little skin on my cheek. "Mm..you taste like lavender." He commented.

My kids are my life, but they tire me out almost as much as my job does. Between taking down the scum of Boston and filing my cases, I'm constantly driving the twins everywhere. Arella, she's my sporty girl, taking after me. If it's not field hockey, it's softball, tennis, or track meets all over the city. Aria, thank goodness is more like Teddy, in shape but more of a bookworm than athlete. I don't think I could handle TWO sport fanatic daughters, and Nicholas is a handful just because of his young age.

When it was time for us to leave Teddy got up and helped Nicholas wiggle his body into his coat, trying not to stain it with our son's very ketchupy hands. Arella and Aria bounced up and down on my side of the booth, impatient for me to move so they could get out. The manager, face as usual hidden behind a black plume of cigar smoke waved goodbye to us as we were leaving. Teddy worked here our senior year of high school, before we started dating and continued that summer until we both entered college together.

J-lynn used to tell me that every employee here was just holding their breath, waiting for one of us to wise up and ask the other out. I guess Teddy was the only one suprised when I told him I liked him. On the way out a affectionatly patted the old cat, Bos who enjoyed stalking the flies that swarmed around the cook, Gunter's old pots and pans.

"Not sneaking behind the counter today Night?" A voice coated with a smooth southern accent asks me. It's the oldest waitress, Rene who was here when we were kids. She smiles, her teeth still white even after God know's how many years of drinking straight black coffee and using chewing tabbaco. "Ah, the kiddies are here, nevermind." She teases and smiles sweetly to Teddy. "Took you a while, but you finally caught on Teddy, at least you finally caught on."

Teddy laughed, embarassed at the mention of his youthful oblivian. Arella and Aria looked at me with laughter in their eyes, knowing full well the story of their father's slowness when it came to love, well at least SOME of it they knew.

Rene continued, "You see girls, your mama used to come here, oh every Saturday afternoon and we'd all wonder whether Teddy here would wise up and kiss her or if she'd finally get the courage to do it or not. He'd come over and even though he was only a busboy he'd take her order and lie to me, telling me there was a spill over there or something and spend every spare minute he could talking to her. Then you day your mama finally reached across the counter and left him a tip he'll never forget!"

"That's enough Rene! You're as bad as J-lynn!" I wasn't exacty thrilled for her to tell my daughters the details I'd purposely left out. "But it's still nice to see you." I said. "Just make sure I don't have to come in during business hours."

Rene crossed her arms but still had that coy smile on her lips. "Girl, I'm suprised you havn't closed us down yet, after all you know prety much everything." She turned to Arella and Aria. "Especially what goes on..behind these counters."
