Her pretty toes dig into the sand, as the seawater caresses them with its gentle fingers. She laughs happily, then goes running, chasing the wave back as it shyly, and quickly, retreats. Then, another wave crashes over the first in its haste to greet this beauty running toward it, eager to caress her perfect skin, as the first wave had done.

She splashes gaily through this second wave, then turns and beckons to me. Her soft, childlike voice sails back across the water to me, even as she wades deeper in; “Come on! It's beautiful!”

I grin and run after her, shouting across the noise of the surf, “Race ya to the boat!” So saying, I dive into the water as it deepens. She's ahead of me, of course, but I'm a stronger swimmer than she is, and I easily catch up.

“No fair!” She cries, looking back at me, and seeing that I'm only inches behind now, “You must have flippers on,” she reasons, grinning.

At the sight of that beautiful face, made only prettier by her crooked smile, I grin right back, accidentally inhaling seawater. Sputtering, I pause in my swimming, and she swims ahead, laughing once again.

“Hey! That wasn't fair!” I call out to her as I start swimming again. I catch up to her just at the side of the boat, and clamber aboard before she does. Then I reach down and haul her into the boat after me, both of us dripping wet, but not caring in the least in the warm weather. I tug her into my arms and growl with mock-ferocity, “You know what that smile does to me, young lady,” I reprimand her.

She doesn't seem at all contrite, and continues to smile up at me in that teasing, impish way of hers. “You should've learned to resist my charms by now, silly goose,” she tells me, laughing.

I lean down to kiss those pretty lips, holding her close to me. “You should be ashamed of yourself, little missy. I don't know what I'm gonna do with you, smiling like that so you practically drown a man.”

“Awwww,” she cries softly, actually managing to look just a little contrite now. “You weren't really gonna drown, were ya?” I'm not fooled by her sorry tone, though, because her eyes are still dancing, and her fingers have inched up my back and are now entwined in my wet curls.

I frown down at her, “Of course I was! So you should make it up to me.” It's all I can do to keep from smiling at the way her round eyes widen innocently at that.

“Why, how can I make it up to you?”

“Oh, I bet some kisses of yours might help. But only maybe, we'll have to test it to make sure.”

Laughing happily, she tugs my head forward and kisses me passionately, but then she wiggles out of my arms, and dances away to the bow of the boat. “That better have been good enough, 'cause we've gotta set sail,” she calls back to me, her soft hair blowing in the wind as it dries.

“Awww, I dunno, I don't think I'm quite un-drowned yet,” I whine, grinning up at her from the cockpit.

“Well, you'll just have to hold on a little bit longer, until we're under way, and I can solve that problem for ya!”

Laughing, I turn away, and help her prepare our boat for our next journey. It doesn't matter where we go, as long as we go there together.
