Mika walked slowly away from the marker, back to an empty bed, and an empty home that mimiced her empty heart. Marius however, remained behind, staring at his father's two swords. His fists were clenched so tightly, his knuckles had turned white. Shadow's Blood would stay as the markers guardian, for no one could touch it unless they were Toen, or as powerful as Sozosha, but it was Blood Bane that Marius looked to.
"It is made of the blood of all of those who have died by my hand," Toen had once told his son, who had asked about the red color of his fathers sword. "I used to keep the blood with me as a reminder, but once I learned to manipulate blood, my enimies became my weapon."
Marius hated to see that sword standing there. His father had fought so hard to avenge his parents, but in the end, he used those gods who had killed his parents to protect others of the same world. That sword had killed for Sozosha many times, and Marius was sure that she had had a hand in Toen's death.
Toen's son stepped forward slowly, reaching out his hand. His finger tips brushed the hilt of the blade; it was soft, like a taned pelt of some Vorsethian animal... or like blood, with it's outer layer forming a delicate skin. For a moment, Marius moved his hand back, his eyes wide with surprize, but still he returned it to the hilt, grabbing it firmly in his hand. Images flashed through his head, images of people that he had never known, but he guess that they were those that had made this sword. With that Marius pulled the sword from the ground, putting all his strength into it. It took more than one hand to draw it from the ground and when he did get it out, he toppled backwards over himself, clutching the sword to his chest.
When he had righted himself, Marius looked over the blade and found that the tip had cracked when Sozosha had thrust it into the ground. It didn't take even a moment for Marius to realize how he would fix it.
Marius held the sword tightly in his fist as he walked slowly towards the counsils sanctuary. His bi-colored eyes fixed only on what was ahead of him. He was going to do what his father should have done... kill the murderer of his parents.
The counsil wasn't meeting then, on acount of Toen's funeral, but Sozosha was still there, sitting in her decrotive chair at the head of all the others. Her chin rested gently on her folded hands, which a simple smile painting her delicate face. "Oh Toen," he said quielty to herself, "you were so foolish."
"You're the fool!" Marius shouted as he pushed the doors open.
Sozosha looked up lazily, as if she had been expecting Marius to do as he had done. She sighed as she stood and moved towards Marius, who still clung tightly to his fathers sword. "What do you plan to do Marius?" she questioned, now standing right in front of Marius. "Will you atempt to kill me as your father did?"
"No," replied Marius, his hand quivering with adrenaline, "not 'atempt'." With that Marius brought up the sword, preparing to cut down the creator of Vorseth and Heaven and all it's surrounding planets. "I will kill you as my father should have done."
Still Sozosha looked at Marius as nothing more than an anoyance. She walked right up to him and grabbed the tip of Blood Bane. She looked at it was a slight smirk, realizing the cracked tip. "Your father," she paused, thinking pf Toen, clearly. "Your father couldn't kill me and you certainly can't even win a fight against him, so how could you kill me?" She paused again as she forced the blood swords tip downwards. "Walk away Marius, I don't want to have to kill you."
"Like you killed my father?!" Marius shouted back, sweeping the sword upwards again, his grip as tight on it as possible. "I know what you did!"
Now Sozosha was interested. She looked sternly at Marius, certainly now wondering what to do with him. She didn't understand how Toen could have told his son, but Toen was smart like that, which was probably why it was so hard to get him to die. "What did I do?" she questioned quietly, trying to sound more confidant than she certainly was.
