Step 1
The first thing to do is to go to "Your presentation" (in the top navigation bar). There you will see a button that reads "No writings here" – or "View writings" if you have already uploaded texts. Click on that and you will be brought to an upload page (which if you are used to the community will look like an advanced wiki edit page).

Step 2
This should be your first uploaded text, and so you should call it 'Top Index'. Do not put your work here. This page will be the index for all your uploaded files, so wait until the next step to add your work.

Fill in any necessary details, then click submit.

Step 3
Now that you have your Index created, you are free to create your first writing page. To do this: go back to your newly uploaded Top Index, scroll to the bottom and you will see this button <img:stuff/subpage.jpg>. Before you click on it, type in a name for the sub-page. For example the name of a novel you are writing, then click the button.

As before fill in the details, then click <img:stuff/wikichanges_submit.jpg>.

Step 4
You now have an Index and your first sub-page containing details of your novel (etc). If you want to add sub-pages to this sub-page (that is, chapters), follow the same step as above. Each time you want to add a new chapter – do it from your book title page.

To add writings to the subpages, you may copy and paste into the edit box, which will allow you to use the pseudo HTML; or upload files containing your work.

2005-05-10 [Veltzeh]: I fixed a bit and made it so that the beginning says to go to the presentation and not use the non-existing button. X)

2005-05-10 [Font]: Thanks.

2005-07-07 [Phoxx]: Maybe I'm being very stupid, but it still doesn't say how exactly to get something you've written on the site. Should you upload a Word-file, or just paste it in the description-box (e.g. for poems)?

2005-07-07 [Phoxx]: Already figured it out on my own, but it might be helpfull for others to mention it here ;)

2005-11-13 [Kiddalee]: Don't you think you should say that once you've created the indexes and sub-indexes, you'll be able to upload an HTML file?

2005-11-13 [Font]: We are currently (hopefully) reworking the writing system to make it less confusing.

2006-08-19 [viperess1]: okay what if you totally blow it and did not do a top index page. How can I go back and redo it to where I have an index page?

2006-08-20 [Kiddalee]: Well, I've tested my library. What did you do, exactly? It looks to me like, in your situation, you gave a name to what should have been your top index. In that case, I don't think you've lost your index. Just go to the page with your currently only story, and click on the link under Up in the dark blue box. There, you'll find your index. Ask me again for help if you don't see an "Edit this page" button there.

2006-08-20 [viperess1]: Thank you. I think I still have some work to get stuff right. Not sure exactly what I did but it looks all wrong.

2006-08-21 [Kiddalee]: Ack. I don't know what's going on, but I found a bug while trying something out in my own library. Maybe you should write down from memory what you did (what buttons you pushed and all) in what order, to see whether what's wrong is due to a bug, or due to something you did wrong (if it's due to a bug, you'd be helping WritersCo out by telling us about it).
However, I do know how to relocate everything to somewhere normal. Leave CALABASH and Today alone. They are in the right place. Now click on 572.Top Index. This is not your top index. It's just a page that happens to have that name. It's linked from your actual top index, 572.
Now go to 572.Top Index. The Storm. Click on the Rename page button at the top. Now there are three options, and the top one says, Rename this page and all its subpages. The New name box has an unchangeable 572. in front of it, right? And if I'm correct, in the text box you see Top Index. The Storm. So just erase Top Index. DO NOT FORGET TO ERASE THE DOT. After you've clicked on Move, The Storm should be at [572.The Storm@writings]. Then repeat with what is currently 572.Top Index.Rain Against The Window.
Finally, you might as well get rid of your fake 572.Top Index. Go to it, and click on the Hide page button. You can unhide it again later, but I'll leave explaining that for a time when you need it.

2006-08-21 [viperess1]: ^_^ thank you so much. I am so computer illiterate it is almost funny.

2006-08-21 [Kiddalee]: Well, the process isn't exactly self-explanatory.

2006-08-21 [viperess1]: Well you do a very good job at explaining it if I can understand it.

2006-08-21 [Kiddalee]: Thanks. ^_^

2009-06-23 [Akane; Il Sangue Bevitore]: Wah! This looks complicated. Ugh. Can't I just copy, paste onto a WIKI page?

2009-06-23 [Veltzeh]: It's basically as complicated as making a wikipage, except the writing pages have an in-built hierarchy! I like having an in-built hierarchy. X)

2009-06-23 [Akane; Il Sangue Bevitore]: Well, if I can't figure it out, can I ask you for help? (Hi, I'm Akane, by the way)

2009-06-24 [Veltzeh]: Sure! Did you follow the instructions on this page yet? After you've done the top index (yeah, the initial setup is a bit more complicated than making a wiki), it's pretty straightforward. The buttons look a bit different in the instructions though... but they should still read the same thing.

2009-06-24 [Akane; Il Sangue Bevitore]: I'm thinking about what kind of stories I want to upload here.
