Line after line
with no meaning
fancy words forming empty phrases

the dark blue ink
staining my fingertips
takes on a purple hue

nails bitten
down to the roots
and ripped away

if I was pale yesterday
then today I am dying
and my eyes alight with a manic glow

of knowing too many truths
