Innocence

I
Pale green, with strong stalks -
Only tinted with color... pale red,
The bud’s tips slowly open.

II
Bright red blossoms -
Open wide under the sun,
Delicately espousing their softness to the sky.

III
Discolored, wilting flowers -
Petals missing, stalk slightly bent,
Losing their beauty and innocence.
