Five Words - March contest entry

The lancer was on his way to the castle when, from out of nowhere, a man appeared in the middle of the road, blocking the his path. He was a huge, brutal looking man with a smug smile on his face, a dangerous gleam in his eyes, and a jagged scar across his right cheek. The lancer had heard, many times before, the legacy that told he would some day meet this terrible man and have to battle with him. But, he still wasn’t expecting it, and as the man moved towards him, a fierce look on his face, the lancer panicked. He stooped and picked up a pebble, throwing it as hard as he could at the man. It hit the man square in the forehead! And he just stood there, rather stunned and googly eyed, as the lancer ran as fast as he could to the castle.
