Frequent the cemeteries but
there's no cross to mark the grave where
our relationship is buried
the one that died when you went away and I
read the obituaries
to see if I recognize the names of
the deceased, their burdens carried
by the loved ones left behind...
by the loved ones left alive...

And I scream at the sky
why can't we end this fight
that no one ever wins
before it all starts over again
And we march into those foreign lands
and we torch the work of foreign hands
and assume that we are justified
in playing God with people's lives

we seethe with Government Issue hate
we churn in our volatile mob mindset
we move with reckless abandon for
what we don't think merits its existance
and we change our ideals to fit the times
ideals we claim we are fighting for
in the name of peace and justice
but nevermind this casualty of war.

complete this apiary but
there's no one to work the land where
our tin sincerity was
forced apart by uncalloused hands, oh
what is it in me that carries
all the details of my past, so
even with fading memories
I still cannot forget...
and I can't be whole again

And I dream, eyes awake
while nightmares haunt my days
that never seem to end
in this eternal sphere of death
and we dream of global happiness
while we preach of the need for tolerance
and assume that we are justified
in playing games with people's minds

we seethe with Government Issue hate
we churn in our volatile mob mindset
we move with reckless abandon for
what we don't think merits its existance
and we change our ideals to fit the times
ideals we pretend we are fighting for
in the name of peace and justice
but nevermind this casualty of war.
