You've held me close
and you've held me up
and you've held me back
when I didn't know how to stop

You helped me so much
by just being there
how you could always catch me
when my own strength had failed

Taught me things
I'd forgotten I knew
and your smile, so sweet,
another reason I'll miss you

Goodbye, my friend,
I'm so glad that we met,
but I just hope that everything
works out for the best
Goodbye, my friend,
I hope we meet again,
under better circumstances
than the way that we left

and now at last
it's time that we parted
but we've been friends for so long
that I forgot how it started

I never got the chance
to say all I meant to,
but I'll never forget
everything that we went through

wanted to thank you,
that you gave your friendship and trust
to this cold-hearted pauper
who was too scared to love
