Cynical

The young
Grow up reeling
Never recognizing their potential
Until they drown
In a torential
Flood of destruction.
Tearing everything they know
Limb from limb,
Trashing their dreams,
Skewerig any whim.
When life gives you lemons
Make lemonade
But how does that help
When everything you've made
Is washed away
By the life
You assumed to be safe?
Even the wisest of people
Are truly naive
When it comes to the steeple
Just out of their reach.
For happiness
Is evasive
And more is less
While success is a term
Known best
By the depressed.
