Background: Was gazing off into Never Never Land and I just had to write it.

About: Dedicated to Kayla, my friend. It's about a girl who sneaks away to fly with her wings. Lots of meaning, one of my favorite stories to share with young ones, too. She goes through so much pain for just a little bit of pleasure, and it's all worth it.

2005-12-31 Kuzco: You write really well. With that said, this story is particulary fun to read. The blossoming and unblossoming of the wings pained her limitless but still she so much wanted them.
You describe very well the "transformation", the anxiety then exhilaration of flight; the flight itself and her relief to feel free of the mundane that inexorably holds her all times except these.
I hope I got it right, I liked it it’s a nice story and well developed.

2005-12-31 Emily: Yup, that's right!

The scenes you described (her transformation and her flight), was the hardest writing assignment I ever gave myself. I have written of pain because I know pain, and I have written of happiness because I know happiness. I believe that this story, with just that one scene, went through a process of 3 months of editing, because I couldn't get the feeling right, couldn't get the right word choice, etc., etc., and didn't want to present my friend with an imperfect story. I was happy that it was over when I finally decided it was DONE.

I'll mention, though, there's still some things that are iffy about it...

2005-12-31 Kuzco: bah! There's always some things "iffy" with our stuff.
I guess Luckily, it can always be improoved, although I'd find hard to improve this one. ;)
I've written stories for friends too and I know that kind of self inflicted stress acheive "not perfect but as near to it as possible" hehehe.
