Her lip trembled, fear had stricken her and she panicked under its way. He gently touched her lips and moved his head to the side so he could look into her eyes. She was so gorgeous, so perfect... even with the obvious mascara lines, the remainders of her tears.

"It'll be alright. I promise..." he said, sounding more confident than he felt. He too was scared, but he knew that she needed his comfort. He could tell that she knew that nothing would ever be perfect again, but at very least he could tell her that it would be.

She tried to smile, her chin indenting as each movement of her lip made her that much closer to breaking down. She could feel the tears build up, and right as she realized she couldnt hold it back she turned her head away and got up to evade to the bathroom... or to the kitchen... anywhere but there. She would have died if he had seen her cry, she felt so abashed, so disgusted with herself... and so afraid. He was too perfect, she barely felt like she was enough for him regularily, if he saw her cry... she couldnt imagine what there would be left that he'd like her, let alone love her, for.

As she picked up her foot and stepped forward, he stopped her with a quick but gentle hand on her forearm. She was stopped at an instant, no amount of her power could make her leave when he was so close to her...

"Stop." he told her. "I..."

She turned back around only to see his gorgeous eyes shining with the tears that he held for her. They were the color of a light misty brown with this beautiful shine that seemed to swallow his whole eye. His eyes laid out so transparently she could almost read his mind out in sentences. He really cared... he really wanted her. Even with her tears smearing her makeup, her lips scratched with her teeths harsh indents... and her body trembling in fear. At that instant all other things melted away as both were pulled into a kiss of both passion and insanity.

"I... I still love you, you know that right?" the words muffled inbetween deep kisses as he fought to tear himself away. He knew that with every moment with her in his arms would make everything just that much harder, but he couldnt help it. She was there, at that moment and nothing could ever matter more.

"Hold me..." she whispered, after the long kiss left, not daring leave the tip of her nose off of the warmth of his soft cheek. So close, yet so far... almost, but not quite enough. Not enough to close the world in around them, not quite enough to last...

Her tears had left her the moment his hand fused her arm, and they had not come back since. The moments seemed so long, yet they were barely more than seconds. Fragments in time where all good memories were topped. She realized how much she had missed him... as he did her...

She strapped her arms tightly against his back, clinging to him as if otherwise she d fall. Her legs had gone tingly and her heart fluttered to a soft quiet beat of content. She wanted to be like this forever, but as all good things... it couldnt.

He went to go wipe away her last trembling tear as a banging on the door sounded. A thunder rumbled throughout the house as you could hear the boards clinging together and series of boots chimed at a steadily hastening paces. The sound of screams, cries of pain sounded from the room next to them, and at that she fell limp in his arms, her legs giving way, his arms tightening with fear and the need to protect the only thing left in his life.

"They're coming!" their minds kept chiming to themselves, but no one dared say a word. They wanted her dead, and would stop at nothing to have it done. Things, once again, so much more complicated than they should be... she softly cried once again but her body regained its composure. She was no longer afraid, she was just pained with the thought that she would never be with her love again...

"Remember..." she said, with more strength than she had had for years. The word lingered in the room, and at that he guided her to the basement, his footsteps naturally quiet and tender, and their heartbeats pacing with anticipation as the thuds shook the entire building, closer each moment, and evermore intensifying.

"WHERE IS SHE?!" the words coming soundly through from the next room. The words so pronounced and clear it seemed like he was right there, right behind them.

They clung together tightly in the basement as they heard him crash through everything, with the frequent screams rushing around them. They were getting closer and she knew it, and she had to think fast. At once she stood up, and walked, tearless towards the door with so much confidence you would think she had an army behind her. Her hand clasped the knob, firmly and completely and she knew what she had to do even if it meant she face death for it.

He stood, his back clenched to the wall, stunned as if he didnt even realize she had moved. He was unable to tell if she was actually moving or if he was having some horrible day dream. She wouldnt do this. She knew what would happen to her. She loved him...

"I'm sorry... I wish that we could be together, but things will never be the same..." she said, a blank stare on her face. As if she was in a deep shock. "This was never about you... I don't want you to have to pay for what I have done." she said, not even able to look at his eyes anymore. She could imagine what his eyes would tell her, and she knew that she wouldnt be able to go against their wishes. She had to.

She turned the handle, feeling their blades already pierce into her and she walked out, eyes closed, into the open area ahead. It seemed like life froze then, for nothing happened. The voices melted away as she lifted her hands up to her face to pry her eyes open to confirm she was actually there...

The door closed instantly behind her, locking him out, and her in. He tried to move towards the door but his legs wouldnt work. He collapsed, in shock, still holding on to that empty fixture to which she once stood. The darkness suddenly becoming darker, he wished his death the instant she let him go. Now he couldnt take it. The last ringing noise in his mind being the thud of his own torso as everything blurred away...
