[Talenya]: 299.Poetry.Loved One's Lost

NOTE: This was written for my Gandpa Wetter (is really his last name) who just past away about Feb. 13th of this year. I hope all of you who have lost someone dear to you find solace in this piece.

We never know how much someone means to us,
Until asked to let them go.
We often take the time we have for granted,
Or waste it grain by grain,
We think later in bitter sadness that we should have made more time,
Whether just to be around them or to listen to their words--their voice once again.
We think about their memory--both the happy and the sad,
We wonder why this had to be and some times we get mad.
But, what we must remember is really just two things,
That one they're smiling down from heaven waiting for you and me,
And, two that each tear we cry for them should be tinged with joy that they're finally at peace.

Written 2/16/07 (day of funeral) for Gandpa Ah-ha (nickname), rest in peace and we will carry you in our hearts always.
