I open the door, it lets out a creak.
"Is anyone home?" I manage to speak.
There is no answer, call after call.
I forgot to turn on the light, I run into a wall.
"Ow, that hurts," I say through the pain
And I continue walking as the moonlight does wane.
I look in the bathroom. I look in the den.
I look in the basement and in the kitchen.
I search and I search 'till I can search no more.
No one is home, so I walk out the door.
I continue to walk on down the street.
No house lights are on as far as I see.
Then I see a mansion, with many lights on.
Forgetting my manners, I sprint across the lawn.
I knock on the door. It opens slightly.
"Maybe someone's here," I say. "Yes, there might be."
I walk inside to see no one there.
"Not again," I sigh in despair.
I walk down the hallway and into a room.
There's a bed, bottles, and a big broom.
Many meek mice scuttle by my feet
Tickling my toes to no end as they rush by and squeek.
This house is quite creepy, no doubt about it.
If only the hallways were more brightly lit.
This place is starting to scare my bejeebers
And there on the ground, I spy a rather large cleaver.
I run out of the house. Oh, how I flee!
I don't close the door, yet it closes nehind me.
I walk down the road and continue to roam.
I will walk on forever, since there's no one home.
