Children all have many rights
They should not be deprived
And when these rights are not allowed
We’re breaking laws of life.

A child has the right to love
And be loved in return
A child deprived of love and care
Is slow to trust and learn.

Protection is a child’s right
To keep him safe from harm
And if a child’s been victimized
They’ve learned fear and alarm.

A child has the right to feel
Emotions, good or bad
And if they’re silenced they will die
And lose the love they had

A child has the right to learn
And to fulfil her dreams
A child has the right to life
And all its basic needs.

A child has the right to fun
And also peace of mind
A child has the right to speak
And in love to abide.

A child has the right to ask
Questions he may hold
A child has the right to know
Their rights before they’re grown.

When a child’s robbed of rights
Or silenced in their youth
They quickly learn that they don’t count
And grow up feeling used.
