She knew why fish swam and why birds sung,
She knew why volcanos erupted and why thunder roared,
She knew how to fix bikes and how to bake pies,
She knew stories or old and stories quite young,
She knew everything there was to know but one thing she did not understand,
This thing was love.
What made people fall in love?
Was it love at first sight or lust?
She decided after much thought that it was lust,
So if it is love at first sight, what turns lust into love?
She turned yo her friends for advice,
Some said it was a tender touch, others an intense but gentle gaze,
She didn't understand any of this and kept asking "But why?",
Her friends just smiled their secret knowing smiles and replied "You wait and see."
One glorious fine day she fell in love,
Was it the tender touch she received?
Or the intense but gentle gaze that was bestowed upon her?
She smiled, this was something you did not have to understand,
Sometimes there are things in life you are never meant to understand,
And so it came to be, she who knew it all, knew nothing when it came to love.
