Quiet - Durandal

Slam, slam, silence.

He knew how to say the word 'quiet' in seven different languages. One for each murder. But it didn't matter here, in this place where time had no meaning. Being able to speak seven different languages had no point in a place where neither intelligence nor education was valued.

Slam, slam. Another one came by. Slam, silence.

He rolled onto his side and stared blankly at the bars, his mind wandering as it did so often, as it had to before he finally went insane. Maybe more insane, he smiled as he thought. Could you lose yourself even more? If it had already happened, could it deepen, evolve?

Onto his back again, brown eyes turned upwards to the place where the ceiling met the wall behind his head. Both arms tucked under unnaturally natural white hair.

Slam. Scream. Slam. Silence. Another one gone for testing. Another person he had never seen, never known, leaving for the place where so many had gone, and never returned from.

No one cared for killers. And rightly so. Why should they care for a man who had killed seven others? So they agreed to the testing, allowed those convicted and to be sent for death to become live guinea pigs.

But as long as he had the right to chose, he wouldn't go for testing. Never.

Slam, slam. Silence.

Another five-minute piece, clocking in at 228 words, this time based around the prompt 'quiet'.
