Sean blinked a few times and rubbed his eyes, trying to make sure he was awake. His eyes were open but all he could see was black.
‘Am I blind?’ was the first thought that crossed his mind as he waved his hand in front of his face.
“I knew mom was wrong! Broccoli blinded me! Mom? Mom?! I’m blind! I can’t see! Mom!”
The sound of shuffling caught his attention. Sean looked around nervously, his fear starting to grow.
“Who’s there?” He had meant for his voice to come out strong and loud, but instead it had come out squeaky and low. Silence answered him. ‘Hehe, maybe I’m just hearing things.’
Carefully making his way to his feet with his arms outstretched in front of him, Sean slowly made his way forward, looking for some sort of window or door. ‘So where exactly am I? Last thing I remember was being in my bed with Willy trying to sleep.’ His hands made contact with a wall and he stopped. ‘But Willy isn’t here. Who’s gonna protect me? What if they come now? Sean’s unseen hands started to tremble slightly. ‘I don’t like this! I want out of here!’
“Mom? Grandpa? Tommy? Can anyone hear me?” His voice cracked as he yelled into the darkness. The sound of shuffling and scurrying somewhere close to him brought tears of fear to his eyes. ‘They’re here! They’re here!’
“Ssseeeeaaannnnn.”
The low whisper from somewhere across from him sent waves of panic through Sean’s body. With one hand still on the wall to help guide him, Sean felt his legs take off.
“They’re here! They’re gonna get me! Willy! Where are you Willy?!” He shrieked, hearing the shuffling following him.
“Ssseeeeaaaannnnn.” The whisper was louder, closer. Sobbing in fear, his hands finally hit was felt like a doorknob. Hands shaking, Sean turned the handle.
“No! No! No! Let me out!” He screamed, pounding and beating the locked door. “They’re coming! They’re gonna get me! Help! Mommy! MOMMY!”
Sean froze as he felt cool breath on his neck, the hairs standing on end.
“Sseeeeeaaaaannnnnnn.”
Sean pressed his back against the wall, covering his facing and waiting for what was coming, screaming as loud as his small lungs would allow. Just as he was about to be overcome, he found himself falling backward as light broke through the darkness.
“Sean! What is with all this yelling? And Tommy! What on earth are you two doing in the closet?”
