Rage in a Box

Before you I hold rage in a box.
Four corners, red and hot.
Teeming and brewing with hate.
Ready to tip and test the fates.

Screaming and yelling, wanting out.
We try not to let it roam about.
Bottling it up, pushing it aside.
Forced down by rules it has to abide.

Rage takes a hold of your guts.
Tearing them up till you’re in a rut.
Chasing it off, overcoming your fear.
Yet feeling it behind every burning tear.

Escaping our mouth and flying free.
It runs through the streets,
Taking others into it’s grasp.
Fighting them down until they are trapped.

It’s pot is hot and always at a simmer.
It attacks; it’s eyes with a shine and a glimmer.
Closing rage up, a task not easy to see.
Putting it behind bars, to pout and to bleed.

Rage in a box…caught.
It’s captured and locked.
Behind it’s four cornered walls.
Rage continues to simmer, at it’s fall.
