The young girl pushed her glasses up against her face with a finger as she flipped through the dusty pages of an ancient-lookin
"Why, oh why are we doing this!!! I've got a bad a bad feeling Mia!!" the lanky girl cried, turning to her friend. "Please, can't we just leave?"
"Stop being such a chicken Tessa," Mia said, pushing her glasses further up her nose again. "Every school has some ghost story about someone dieing on the grounds hundreds of years ago. Every school thinks they're haunted by something!! And not one of them is true. So just suck it up, and help me light the incense before I start reciting the spell,"
"If we know it's not true, then why are we do it?" Tessa said in a monotoned, sarcastic way. She pulled out some matches and started lighting the incense.
The two girls had come to the school shortly after 11:30. They were now in the "empty classroom". It was always empty- no desks, no chairs, no nothing. No one went in there. Except for Mia and Tessa. Mia continued flipping through the old book until she came to a page. She triumphantly read the curved script from the top of the page.
Tessa shivered. "Even the title is scary," she whispered. She turned off the lights in the room and glanced around. Candles and incense burned brightly, filling the room with a glow. They were arranged in a large circle, where one small pearl was placed in the center. Mia grinned, and continued reading...
A strong wind blew in from an open window and knocked down a candle. Flame fell from it's tip and spread across the floor. Tessa tried to cry out, but her voice was frozen in fear.
"M-m-m-ia..." she finalled stammered. "Stop it, I'm scared!!" But, Mia didn't stop. She couldn't. A strange deep tone withtook her voice and continued reading.
The single pearl trembled, and began to change it grew, and stretched upwards, forming a long, straight pole. The flame from the fallen candle spread to it's base and then spread, climbing the stake. Beyond the flames, a figure of a young girl materialized. Her eyes were closed, and there appeared to be no life in her motionless body.
"Have life once again... LEALA!!" Mia screamed.
A tremendous gust of wind blew in, and every single candle was put out. Only the flickering flames at the base of the stake remained, and they too, eventually died. Amidst the total darkness, a young girl's sobbing could be heard.
Tessa fumbled around in her pockets and found a match. She reached out and touched a candle. She lit it, and then searched around the room with her eyes. Mia was unconcious on the floor beside her.
"Uh... Oh Mia!! Wake up!!" she cried, tears in her eyes. Mia groaned and sat up slowly, rubbing her forehead. "You're not dead!!" Tessa shouted, hugging her friend.
"Of course I'm not dead! I'm just... shaken up," Mia said, smiling. A silence fell across the room. The sobbing could still be heard, and the two girls turned their heads similtainiousl
"I didn't do it..." she said, breathless. "I can't believe I've been saved," after her words, she collasped.
"What are we going to do with her?" Tessa asked.
"We'll carry her to my house," Mia said. "We'll feed her, and then put her in bed,"
