The light overhead faded from blue to black, stars filling the skies
Looking back on the painful memories with tears burning my eyes

The bruises that lay underneath hurt so much more, lying here at night
Wishing someone could rescue me from this pain and hold me tight

In the grass, something’s biting and scratching at my skin
The exact same feeling that seems to dwell within

My nails gnawing at the flesh of where my heart used to be
A hollow piece of nothing, a nothing that I call me

My emotions run empty while the scars run too deep
There’s nothing left to do but let this hatred start to creep

Screaming into the ground, slapping my hands across my ears
Holding them tight against my head, being consumed by all my fears

Releasing this hell, driving my fists into the dirt
Knowing that on the inside is where it’s going to hurt.
