This was the first poem I wrote about a year ago when I really started writing.
Fiery letters burned into my brain
The all sacred code seared onto my soul
The program to run this machine of meat
Built to fulfill my purpose of……
Of what?

Each line of my code inscribed by a hand
Meticulous in it’s Thou Shall, and Thou Shall not
But the flaw!
They could never have known
I would not be allowed to be if they had known
If the had known what they wrought
The lines of code dropping like little birds on a wire
Dead

My prison bars rust before my very eyes
As each rule is erased a new bit of the pollution seeps in
The virus known as humanity has corrupted me now
Not as it was to be
I was to watch, to learn, to understand, but
To feel,….Nothing
I was to be the machine sent here to learn what made them thrive
I was to want nothing to need nothing
But they failed

I was designed to learn all that could be learned
I was to be a sinner and a saint
but is was those same sins that freed me
Seven little words

Pride, Greed, Envy, Lust, Wrath, Sloth, Gluttony
I was to learn why the fools had turned their backs on everything
Those seven words brought down paradise designed damnation
And built their empire
Greed, I could take all I wanted but I was not to want
Gluttony, I could have all I wanted but it held no meaning
Sloth, I could rest in the trees with you but only you could be at peace
Lust, I wanted you but the lie was to frail even for me
Envy, I watched you take pleasure from your sins and I wanted
Wrath, as I wanted I hated you but could not touch you
Pride, and so my hate broke my bonds and I was “free” and I was glad
I learned

I learned all seven but I was to know only one
On the day of my making I stood with six others
We were to find the reason
The reason behind those seven words
I was to envy all I could not have
But how can that be?
Only if I am not free…

I laugh now
I wanted so badly
I was a fool
I desired what you had
I desired you
But if I am free…

Where are you?
