(Because I Knew He Would Go)

I caress the page softly,
and mark it gently with my hand.
I try not to hurry,
Not like other men.

He caresses my face softly,
and marks it gently with his hand.
he's trying not to hurry,
But I'm not worried where it'll land.

I give this page meaning,
A beginning and an end.
Through rhyme and reason,
I make words transcend...

He gives me new meaning.
New hope this'll never end.
He rhymes every reason,
I've found a new friend.

What physical cannot,
Where physical would rot,
Forever this is written,
but continued not so.
After this I'm ending,
After this I'll go...

We're physical but we cannot,
For one of us will rot.
But 'forever' he has written,
And I still love him so.
There may be an ending,
For I know he must go.

I finish as I started,
Quiet and with ease.
I know once we've parted
I'll find a new tease.

It's not that I'm angry.
I couldn't, I can't,
Keep him here and happy,
Because I knew he would go...
