The rant of a lesbian

it's odd how people assume so easily
that when you are a woman who has no desire
for the love of a man
you're also a feminist and that's the cause
and the reason and the origin
of your perverted lifestyle

                     they misuse the terms, too
                     say "a feminist" and mean
                     "a man hating bitch"

if a woman is strong
she must be "one of them lesbian feminists"
if a woman dares to overcome a man
she's seen as a threat, not only to the men
but to the system, the norm, the standards

and don't come telling me that's not how it is
anymore, that today things have changed
sure, maybe a woman has more rights to choose
but if the choises are to subject or be jugded
even by your peers
that's hardly liberty

I ask you, friend
sister, brother, human anyway (oh, hu-MAN, a man hating bitch says now)
to not judge feminism by few individuals
who have good intentions but bad ways to strive for them

and just because I'm gay and a feminist
it doesn't mean that one is the cause of the other
I just like girls
and I'd like the thought that being one
wouldn't be made so hard
