Unlike his previous incarnations, this time William was aware of the entire process. He had died, he definitely remembered that, crushed beneath the wheels of an oncoming 18-wheeler as it bore down on his little GTO. His consciousness had coalesced into a bright speck drifting seemingly aimlessly through the cosmos until it was pulled into the womb of a woman lying next to a man, her limbs wrapped loosely around his in post-coital fatigue. The next nine months had been an agony of waiting to be reborn, culminating in the terror and humiliation of expulsion, his tiny, helpless limbs attempting to thrash in protest. Under the overly-bright lights of the delivery room, William wailed his frustration before his cries were squelched by the milk-rich nipple under his rooting mouth.
