Do you remember when you were a child, just a wee thing with your whole future ahead of you? I go to the playground and I watch them, the innocent ones with their rosy cheeks and their dirty mouths, laughing as they scamper over the equipment, playing hide and seek and building complex structures with sand. I remember when I was that age; I would spend what seemed like forever on the swing in the park, watching the view open up as I rose higher and higher until I thought I could touch the sky. If only I could fly, I used to think to myself, understand the language of birds and escape the fetters of gravity. But children grow up and lose their innocence. I am a mere man now, an old man, but I still remember the joys of a summer day.
