This month's words: wind, lost, day, one, flight.

The leaf was old. It was brown and withered, and it clung desperately to its tree, determined to survive one more autumn day. It succeeded, if only barely, until Grandfather Wind closed his cold fingers around it. The dried leaf danced around in the October gusts, helpless and defeated, lost in unwanted flight. The now-bare tree limb stood as a silent tesitmony to the small fragment of itself that, until that moment, had been fighting and clinging to life. The tree, the chill, even the leaf knew that, in a few short months, life anew would spring. However, that didn't stop the old life from wanting to survive.
