The city streets are dark tonight. Normally they were only as black as the cold grip of death... but tonight there was something especially shadowed about them. Each alleyway was more than dark. They were hollow, empty... devoid of anything but the shadows which called them home. I can't recall a midnight this dark in ages. At least as long as he had been gone.
But why would that matter? He was gone and lost forever and could never come back, wasn't that what the sorceror had told me when 'The Winged' took him away? Well regardless of whether or not it was what he said, it was what he had meant. Right? As I ponder the thoughts in my mind though, a chilling gust rushes past me that only I could feel. Not just because of who I am, but also because in this void of life and light, I am the only one here to be able to experience it.
The gust calls me forward. It beckons that I obey its every whim as it twists and carreens loftily down the dim outlines of the street towards a place blacker than the night is now. It's the place we used to live in. No, not we, I. He never lived here... The place where so many memories never happened because this place was foreign and strange. Even now. Especially now...
