Eons ago when man was young and wild there was no wolf. The gods of man created the caribou for them to hunt and eat for meat, and the men grew strong until years later the numbers of caribou grew thin and man began to starve. This was because man only hunted the strong caribou, only leaving the weak and sick which were not able to breed....

Seeing this the gods of man created wolf. Wolf only hunted the weak and the sick caribou, allowing the strong caribou to flourish and breed again, so man could hunt and be strong again. Hence... if you don't have the wolf you don't have the caribou
