Okay, okay, not my best work. But give me some credit, it was written during the fifteen or twenty minutes it took to walk here from home.

She looked boredly out the window, taking a brief break from her studies. Focusing on the air currents around her, she searched for some interesting snippet of conversation she might distract herself more thoroughly with.

“My dearest love,” she heard, and wrenched away from that bit of conversation almost immediately.

“Lovesick children,” she muttered, as she found another, promising strand of air.

“Sweet Abell—“ again, she wrenched away, searching for something that wasn't filled with sweet love words.

“Your eyes are like—“ Muttering curses under her breath, she desperately sought, once more, for something else.

“Oh, Jennif—“

“Ugh! Isn't there anyone around here that isn't in love?” She got to her feet and slammed the window shut, but not before she heard the beginnings of yet another declaration of undying feelings. Disgusted, she turned back to her work. At least her homework was sensible,and didn't go blathering on about love.
