Even those who stood next to her could say nothing. No one comforted her, told her that he would pull through, that he would be okay.
Docotrs yelled and passed things around. Some kept eyes on the monitor and still there was nothing but a screen of plain lines and that horrible screeming syren, as if a way to call out to the passing soul.
Maxwell, who stood next to her, looked from the moitor to her. "He's dead?" he questioned quietly, although it didn't sound completly like a question.
She said nothing and walked slowly away down the hall. The plain syren set into a steady beeping, as if keeping the beat of some steady music. She didn't hear his heart come back to him, or feel his soul leave her heart and return to his body. The rest of the group outside the room rushed to Caden's side, happy and smiling that he was back with them.
Nonetheless, she still didn't turn back. She walked out of the lobby, out to her car and began to drive back to the appartment she had once shared with Caden.
