More about Falx:
First of all, let these two things be known: I am a gamer and I am female. Both of these are true. Now, I know there are those of you out there going, "A female gamer? Surely not!" I assure you, we do exsist and there are more of us than you think. For the most part though, gaming is not all we do. Perhaps that is why so many male gamers think we do not exsist. I mean, we believe in things like friends, life, and (Gaming gods forbid...) HYGIENE. Perhaps your lack of belief in us stems from the fact that we don't look greasy, have faces full of zits, and smell bad. (Yes, I'm sterotyping here. I actually know plenty of male gamers who do not fit this description and am, in fact, engaged to one. Those, however, mostly know at least one gamer girl.)
On Games:
I mentioned I'm a gamer. I like games and not just video games, but
all kinds of games. My game genres include but are not limited to: PC games, console games (especially old school Nintendo and Sega games), board games, strategy games (especially chess and Risk), card games (especially Egyptian Rat Screw, Rummy, and Spades), and tabletop RPGs. I like video games of the RPG and fighting game varieties. I'm also a fan of various beat games, most notably the DDR and Karaoke Revolution series. I have most recently found a happy addiction to World of Warcraft, though, like my fiancee, I sorely wish the Horde would spend more of an effort in burning Goldshire to the ground.
On My Hobbies:
I love to read. Reading is my escapism at its finest. I have a particular fascination with the works of Robert Jordan, J.K. Rowling, Terry Pratchet, Niel Gaiman, R.A. Salvatore, Brian Jacques, and most recently Jim Butcher. My current obsession in reading is
The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. (If you're about to ask me about the version of it they put on the Sci-fi channel, I'll get to it later.) I love fantasy stories and mysteries and Jim Butcher does an excellent job of mingling the two. If supernatural baddies came knocking at my door, I'd want Harry Dresden on my team. That is all.
I also write. I haven't finished anything yet. I have a very short attention span and I suspect I may have ADD. I enjoy writing, and most of my stories are part of what my friends and I have termed "Project Arlos". It's a fantasy world that we all helped to create in one way or another, and it's huge. We've actually run campaigns there and have worked out several new classes based on the D20 system in order to fit the characters that live there. I have a few stories that I've started and none that I've finished aside from a short story entitled
Chapter 4: Monkeys which sort of popped out one day as I was trying to write the fourth chapter for a completely different story. I love writing about Arlos's dark elves, the Kazyreth. They are an intriguing lot, and probably the race I know the most about.
I draw. When I say I draw, I mean all over the place. I used to drive my teachers crazy when they would collect my notes and find doodles all around the margins. It drove them even more insane when I'd be drawing and be able to answer whatever question they asked me. Hurray for my brain being able to multi-task. I mostly draw characters from my stories or really whatever comes to mind. I love drawing eyes and I hate drawing hands and feet.
Falx's Truths:
If you are a writer and you have problems adding depth to a character, I suggest creating them as a character on an RP server on World of Warcraft. Don't play them as if they come from Azeroth, but play them as if they have been torn from their usual world and dropped into Azeroth. It's a good way to see how they react to different circumstances in a world that isn't their own. You may be surprised at some of the things they do. I know I was.
The
Dresden Files series on the Sci-fi channel was, perhaps, one of the biggest let downs of my television/fil
m life. It ranks among the worst with such films as The Lord of the Flies and Eragon, both of which were fantastic books and horrible let downs as films. Don't watch them. Read the books.
I love manga and anime, especially the works of CLAMP. I don't own enough. I also like webcomics, especially MegaTokyo, Mac Hall, Penny Arcade, and CtrlAltDel. They rock and you know it. And if you don't know it, you should read them.
Frostburg is aptly named. When taking a shower there, the windows don't steam, they frost and leave an very pretty rime of ice around the edges. Frostburg's four seasons include: Almost winter, Winter, Still winter, and the Fourth of July.
My cat, Tessla, plays fetch. True story.
Pocky is fantastic.
Heaven is reading a good book in the woods in the summer with a giant glass of iced tea.
A hot bath, a cup of Earl Grey, and a good book is a nice way to wind down after a stressful day at work.
Time spent with someone you love is never wasted.
Battlefield Earth is the worst movie in the history of... well... history. I can't believe I paid $3.00 to see it. (Thank goodness for the student discount or it would have been $5.00) Worst. Movie. Ever.
