New Ghibli movie released!

I'm quite happy about it actually. After years of begging on his part Hayao Miyazaki finally obtained the rights to the Earth Sea Quartet. The first book "A Wizard of Earth Sea" and titled "Gedo Senki" in Japanese was released at the end of July! The previews are amazing and are probably available online if you do an internet search, but seriuosly it looks GREAT. I haven't seen it yet but it's next on my "to see" list.

Is that anime?

Well... I suppose I have to say yes... but I almost put Ghibli in it's own catagory myself. (Big movies include My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Nausica of the Valley of the Winds, among others) They're all really good. I got to go see the Earthsea movie last Sunday. It takes some fairly great liberties with the original story line. If you go expecting a play by play carbon copy of the book you'll be dissapointed, but if you take it as a work unto itself it's really good.
