I tend to suffer from this too, but my articles are intended to be more scientific.
I find that when I 'have' to write an article I'll do it when I am not in a creative mood, by which I mean I am not in the mood to write anything concerning anything related to fantasy.
What I tend to do before I write a scientific article, is write up a plan, with points for the introduction, (abstract) points for 3/4 mains points and then concluding points.
I try and create a plan that is as rigid as possible so that I can't go off on tangents and write waffle that is not related.
You could try this approach. Plan what you need to write and when the idea of adding something 'too friendly' take a look back at your plan and see if it fits in. As you write your piece check off each point so you can see how far you have gone, and how much you have left to do.
