That lowers the functionality of being able to "Read By Thread", since you have to reload an individual posting anyways if you want it marked as read. I didn't even know it was like that on Elftown. I was putting those pages in my notes when I was interrupted while reading them. But the chances of being interrupted are very low, so there's no need for the system to ensure that you haven't overlooked a posting when you know better.
