I'm not so sure, but could Gundam Wing be an example of one? I didn't see any extrenuous gender problems in it. Only in hindsight do I realize just how romantic it was in general (I haven't seen it since I was 15 or so), but it carries those traits out gracefully, and I never felt insulted by it. There were a few stock characters from each gender, but it had its share of real men and women as well.
